Under Pressure
April 26, 2017

Life happens to all of us. We lose a loved one. We got a job we loved. But then realized the boss we got with the job wasn’t so hot. We’ve all had something amazing happen to then have it followed up with something bad to happen.

Why is that?

I believe it happens because the hard stuff is where we prove we can handle the good stuff. It may sound simple or cheesy but it’s in the hard parts of life where we are tested and proven. It requires a test to be proven. Remember nothing is tested or proven during the times when everything is easy.

In the book of James it tells us to consider it a gift when challenges come your way.

The first time I read that, I was like “Are you kidding me? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever read in the Bible.” I could understand the verse saying something like “hey when bad things happen, don’t worry, you’ll be ok. You’ll get through this.”

I could do deal with that. But a gift? Really? No way.

But then it hit me. The only way for you to see who you really are, the person God made you to be is to fully experience pressure. Not run from it.

Pressure can make food cook faster and pressure can even turn coal into diamonds.

It’s pressure that shows the world who we really are, but even more than that, it shows us who we really are.

James goes onto say, “You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.”

God has put a lot in us, and according to his word there is only one way to bring it out. And that’s pressure.

Today I hope to inspire you in the middle of this week. Your pressure filled week. Because even as I write this I am in the middle of pressure myself and even have many friends experiencing pressure. We do not need to allow the enemy to use pressure to make us worse, we need to allow God to use it to make us better.

We need pressure and pressure needs us. God created pressure. It’s a really good thing and needs to be treated as a gift. Pressure has a way of doing work on us that allows us to become all that God wants us to be! Without it, we’d end up going nowhere fast and miss out on the bright future God has in store for us! So go out today and embrace the pressure and become all you were made to be!
