Rest in Hope

“As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.” Psalm 71:14 NIV

Hope has been a word that has been on my heart for some time and it was faith and hope that got me through a tough week at work a couple of weeks ago. Through it all, Hebrews 10:23 was a verse I was standing on:

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope that we profess for He who promised is faithful.”

Hope is defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen and a feeling of trust. To have hope you must also trust. Unswerving in this verse means to have a constant hope that will not change, no matter the situation or circumstances we are in. Different seasons will occur in life but stay rooted in Him. God gives us a hope that we can profess because He is faithful!

We all have something we are hoping and believing God for and when He isn’t moving at the pace we want Him to it can get hard! I always have to remind myself about seed, time and harvest; especially when waiting for a promise gets tough. The time aspect of this has always been a preparation period for me, it is when I am being shaped and molded to be who God wants me to be and He always shows up at the right time! I just have to remind myself that it is at His timing, not mine.

“Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” Psalm 116:7 NIV

It is funny how one situation can make you forget all that God has done in your life. I was guilty of letting a situation cloud all the good He has done and I needed to get into His presence to get myself out of that. Nothing works better than turning worship music on, tuning out everything around me and just resting in His presence.

When I am in His presence I find joy, healing and peace.

King David said this about Him: ‘I see that the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope.’ Acts 2:25-26 NLT

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NLT

God is our source of hope so if you’re struggling to have hope, press into Him. Get into His presence, praise Him and pray!!! Be at peace knowing He is right beside you, be unshakable and rest in hope. Your current circumstances are just for a season. Keep holding on, He is faithful.
