Have you ever had a goal that you have wanted to reach? Maybe it was a health goal, fitness goal, marriage goal, business goal, or even a spiritual goal.
I was at the gym one morning feeling totally defeated and wanted to be anywhere else but there. Everyone around me was giving it all they had, but all I wanted to do was give up. I lost sight of the bigger picture, of my why in my fitness goal. I let circumstances around me dictate how I saw myself.
2 Chronicles 15:7 says, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
There is this saying that whatever you do today, will affect you in 30 days. Setting a goal and making it successful is not only just deciding what you want, but taking action to accomplish the goal you have set for yourself and to continue taking action.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24
It is in those times of feeling like we have failed or want to give up that we have to decide to get up and keeping moving forward. It is important to remind ourselves that everything we do is for the glory of the Lord. His word shows us that He rewards those who put their whole heart into the things they are given, whether that is in your home, place of business, or in the church.
I was reading a devotional from Christine Caine and she talked about how it isn’t too hard to run a short distance really fast; the true test comes when you need to run a whole marathon. It takes months of training and a whole lot of endurance.
In the same way, sticking to what the Lord has called you to do and the goals you have set for yourself takes endurance
I encourage you today to not give up when you have been knocked down from a goal you have set for yourself but to have faith and the patience to know that God sees you and He Loves you and is your biggest supporter!
