Our words. They have power and the ability to speak life or death in our situations. I have been focusing on the words I speak especially when it comes to the season I am in, others, my job, etc.
Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.”
You will reap what you speak so what will you reap with the words you speak daily? You can’t speak defeat and expect victory. Words spoken that don’t bring life won’t bring life. Let your words be the light in the darkness or situation you’re in. You have the power of bringing life to something that feels dry.
So how can you start transforming the way we speak? It starts by checking your heart.
Luke 6:45 says, “What you say flows from what is in your heart.“
The words we speak are an overflow of what we have in our heart. I believe that is why God tells us to guard our heart, the course of your life is determined by it. (Proverbs 4:24) God wants us to understand the power and impact of our words but also the effect they have on others, ourselves and the healthiness of our heart. A good heart produces good fruit.
A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.
Matthew 12:33 & 35 NLT:
“Let God transform and soften your heart so that everything you speak brings life and is fruitful.”
